The Historical Building of the Universitat de Barcelona is hosting this week the 28th Annual Computational Neuroscience Meeting CNS*2019, organised by the Organitzation for Computational Neurosciences and the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica.
The meeting brings together more than 600 participants and experts on experimental neuroscience and theoretical, statistical and computer-simulation analyses from all around the world, with the hope of turning large collections of experimental results into a principled understanding of nervous systems. The event revolves around lively discussions after the talks and during poster presentations, and several social activities held during the event.
CNS has two prominent features. First, since its early editions, CNS has been a forum for young scientists — graduate students, postdocs and junior faculty — who present their work and have the opportunity to talk with more senior leaders in the field. In fact, the proportion of faculty, postdoc and student attendees has remained quite steady over the years, at about one third each. Second, it has become a truly international meeting since its first edition in 1992, alternating European and US cities as locations for the meeting.
